Year Three: Immersion

Take what you’ve learned about yourself and your values and go deeper into your major with hands-on learning through internships, fieldwork, community-engaged learning, study abroad and involvement with local/regional/national organizations.

This year you’ll interact closely with faculty in your department, alumni and community partners who share their own paths and expertise as you engage and contribute in your professional field.

Working with advanced technology in this great program to conduct research has the same output effect as my other jobs where you’re benefiting a community. With NASA I get to take my experiences a bit farther and see what those further applications can be.

Compass Vitae

Your life design model becomes real as you gain experience and serve the community. Within your major you may participate in an economic impact study, discover and catalog artifacts, study abroad in the Amazon Rainforest, walk in the footsteps of Mozart in Vienna or immerse in other relevant work. Hands-on learning has been a hallmark at Salve since the very beginning, when Catherine MacAuley founded the Sisters of Mercy and the University with a vocational mission.

Internship Experience

"I'm not set on any one career plan; I have a growth mindset. The Siemens internship was straight out of a fairy tale because I can do anything within their company. Our Salve professors prepared us for every scenario of the interview – going over our resumes, guiding us on what to wear and how to network – and my nerves went away with the preparation." Emily Capocelli, ’26, global business and economics major
