Salve Experience

At Salve Regina University, education extends far beyond the classroom as you work for a fulfilling career across a range of programs.
Here, learning comes to life through immersive experiences that support and guide you as you discover more about yourself and what you love to do. Whether you're starting your college journey here on campus, or continuing to grow in your career with a graduate program, a Salve education provides an opportunity to learn, to lead and to make a difference.
You’ll discover opportunities that challenge you, a community that supports you and the confidence that comes from achieving the goals you set – and reset – along the way.
Whether it is the professors who know each of us by name, or the classmates who become lifelong friends, that connection is what sets Salve apart.

Make Yourself at Home
From our traditional first-year residence halls to our one-of-a-kind housing for upper-level students, living at Salve is an unforgettable experience marked by ocean views, strolls along Cliff Walk and amazing scenery that puts us on 'most beautiful campus' lists year after year.

The PAWS Program
One of many resources available to support your well-being in and out of the classroom, our Pawsitive Alliance with Students (PAWS) program features Ruggles, Salve's community resource dog. Ruggles is available if you're feeling homesick, stressed or simply want to spend some time with him. The PAWS program also offers community safety classes that empower you to take an active role in maintaining a secure community at Salve.

Our Coastal Community

Resident students quickly discover that living and learning in a city filled with history, natural beauty and opportunities to excel creates unforgettable, transformative experiences that shape who you are and how you view the world. Our home base of Newport, Rhode Island provides unique perspectives and history for all students.
Graduate Programs
The Salve experience is so much more than our beautiful location - it is a collaborative and transformative journey that connects our graduate students to outstanding faculty and peers through online programs designed to take you to the next level in your career. Whether your program includes a short-term, on-campus residency, or your first visit to Salve is when you receive your diploma, you are a part of a community inspired by curiosity and a commitment to making a difference.

The Salve Compass
Undergraduate students build a personalized pathway and develop skills through hands-on experiences with a community of faculty, peer mentors and advisors to guide you along the way. The Salve Compass combines innovative college to career programming with a mercy-inspired focus so that our students can use their strengths to make positive change in their communities.

Get Involved
Salve students contribute more than 10,000 hours of service and advocacy each year to our community partners and neighbors in need.
We offer over 60 student organizations, providing endless opportunities for growth, leadership development and community involvement.
Seahawk Spirit
With 20 Division III varsity sports, as well as club, intramural and recreational teams and activities, you'll find that Seahawk spirit is very much a part of the Salve experience, whether you're in the middle of the action or cheering from the sidelines.

Mercy Welcomes All
Creating a community where all voices are heard and respected is a hallmark of Salve's mission and tradition. Together, we work for a more harmonious, just and merciful world through collaboration, empathy and a deep appreciation for the importance of lending a helping hand where needed.
