Friends and Neighbors

Ochre Court
Ochre Court, the heart of campus.

While Newport is the state's principal tourist destination, it's also a caring and close-knit community. We cherish our deep connection with our neighbors and your support for our mission and our students. Here you can learn more about our community engagement and opportunities to connect.

  • Returning students arrive Wednesday, Sept. 3, which is also the date of our academic Convocation.
  • Fall semester classes begin Thursday, Sept. 4.
  • Our football team hosts UMass Dartmouth at Toppa Field on Saturday, Sept. 6. The game begins at noon and all are welcome.
  • Fall Festival Weekend is Friday, Oct. 17 through Sunday, Oct. 19, with an array of activities for students and families.
