University Events and Conference Services

The Office of University Events and Conference Services provides resources for members of the Salve community and the public who are planning events and weddings on our oceanside campus in Newport, Rhode Island.

Our event spaces include Our Lady of Mercy Chapel, a dignified venue for Catholic ceremonies; the 19th-century mansion Ochre Court, which offers a stunning backdrop for wedding receptions; and Young Building, which provides a sophisticated setting for special events such as rehearsal dinners and fundraisers hosted by nonprofit organizations.

Conference and event space is available for groups legally connected with the University, groups that can demonstrate an affiliation or relationship with a Salve office or department, and nonprofit organizations. Space on campus is not intended for individual use.

Wedding Receptions

Host your unforgettable moments at one of Salve’s spectacular event venues. From the stunning and historic Ochre Court, situated with breathtaking views along Newport’s Cliff Walk, to Bellevue Avenue’s Young Building, we offer extraordinary locations for your wedding, rehearsal dinner, bridal shower, post-wedding brunch and other special occasions.

Wedding receptions are scheduled year-round, based on venue availability. Fees include use of the building for a five-hour reception, tables, chairs, setup and breakdown, and wedding planning support leading up to and during the reception.

Five stars isn't enough to quantify our experience. It was a breathtaking view, a beautiful flow during our event and delicious food. Our guests are still talking about it! I definitely recommend having any type of event at Ochre Court.

Other Wedding-Related Events

Young Building may be reserved for rehearsal dinners, bridal showers, welcome receptions and post-wedding brunches. These events are scheduled year-round, based on availability. The fee includes the use of the venue for a three-hour dinner, tables, chairs, setup and breakdown, and staff support leading up to and during the dinner.

Other Special Events

Private event and/or conference space is available for groups legally connected with Salve, groups affiliated with a University office or department, and nonprofit organizations.

Space on campus is not intended for individual use. All private events, including fundraisers, receptions and concerts, are expected to complement the character and mission of Salve Regina University. The University does not discriminate on the basis of age, race, sex, color, religion, marital status, sexual orientation, national origin or ancestry, disability or handicap.

Photo Sessions at Ochre Court

Wedding photos, engagement photos and family photos may be taken both inside and outside of Ochre Court for a total of one hour. One of Newport's largest 19th-century mansions, Ochre Court is a striking background for a variety of photography. Photo sessions can be booked one month in advance of the requested date. Photo sessions are scheduled based on availability, Monday through Friday after 5 p.m. or any time Saturday or Sunday. Photo sessions are expected to complement the character and mission of Salve Regina University.

Event requests must be for the affiliated individual's personal use, not commercial and/or professional use. Compliance with 501(c)(3) regulations: As a tax-exempt organization, Salve does not permit the use of its facilities and spaces for political campaign meetings, events or fundraisers. The University reserves the right to deny rental requests from entities or events that are not consistent with its mission or that could jeopardize its 501(c)(3) status. This holds true for Salve and non-Salve groups.
