Student Clubs and Organizations
5:45 Club
A student-run organization focused on improving mental and physical well-being through weekly 5:45 a.m. workouts.
Accounting and Finance Club
The Accounting and Finance Club works with the accounting, finance and other business programs to explore options for careers in the financial world. They aim to teach students about possibilities in the financial world through interactive experiences such as panel discussions, guest speakers and meeting with professionals from recognized businesses and corporations.
Alliance
Alliance provides a safe place for LGBTQ+ students and allies to support each other, partake in social activities and create a platform for activism. They also provide support and a voice for those students that identify in the LGBTQ+ community or as an ally.
American Marketing Association
Salve's chapter of the American Marketing Association provides marketing resources and education by offering professional development activities and networking opportunities. National competitions and local community service projects not only enhance members' skill and knowledge, but also promote ethical decision-making and responsible citizenship.
Art After Dark
Art After Dark is a club for any artist - major, minor or not. They provide an artistic outlet and network for all students. Their goal is to bring out the creative abilities of the Salve community and help them shine on campus.
Asian American/Pacific Islander Student Association
The Asian American Pacific Islander Student Association is dedicated to empowering and supporting AAPI students while providing a safe, inclusive space for all. The club fosters a fun and educational environment where the entire campus community can learn about and celebrate AAPI culture.
Association of Student Researchers
The Association of Student Researchers creates an environment where students can communicate freely with Salve faculty, learn more about the various research opportunities offered by faculty and get to know their professors personally.
Best Buddies/Special Olympics
Through integration and inclusion, Best Buddies works to build friendships with members of the community who have intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Biology Club
The Biology Club brings the science of life to life by engaging students in hands-on experiences, fostering a deeper understanding of biological concepts and promoting a passion for discovery.
Black Student Union
The Black Student Union is a proactive organization that focuses on the black experience both on and off campus. They seek to create awareness for issues that plague our communities and to bring inclusion on campus. They aim to bring light to one of the five critical concerns of mercy - race - and in doing so follow the mercy tradition of loving one another. They are a safe space, welcoming all to come as they are.
Building Animal Research Connections
Undergraduate nursing students have been working closely with Ruggles, Salve’s favorite black labrador retriever and official community resource dog. Together they are bringing the merits of pet therapy to campus while gaining valuable practice in experiential research.
Campus Activities Board
The Campus Activities Board is a volunteer student organization that supports the mission of the University and meets the needs of its students by providing social, recreational and developmental programs that promote learning and social development. They design and implement a wide range of student activities, including live comedy shows, dances, off-campus trips and recreational activities.
Cheerleading
The cheerleading team holds yearly tryouts and has mandatory practices, gym time and game attendance. The team aspires to encourage and support all other teams, clubs, organizations and the University community. Their goal is to continue to challenge themselves as a team and continue improving their recognition on campus. They welcome any and all Salve students to try out for their organization.
Chemistry Club
The Chemistry Club offers exciting chemistry activities while building a stronger sense of community within the department. Through engaging experiments, social events and collaborative projects, members develop their passion for chemistry and foster lasting connections with peers and faculty alike.
Circle K
Dedicated to service, Circle K provides students with opportunities to volunteer and give back to the community. Circle K participates in many projects throughout the year, such as trick-or-treat for UNICEF, making cards for Newport Hospital patients, making dog toys for the Potter League and events such as Relay for Life.
Club Volleyball
Club volleyball offers an inclusive and competitive environment for students eager to engage in the sport without the commitment of varsity athletics.
Commuters Club

Completely Scripted Improv
Completely Scripted Improv allows students to develop confidence, think creatively on their feet and spread joy throughout campus through the use of improvisation. There is no experience needed to join.
Criminal Justice and Criminology Club
The Criminal Justice and Criminology Club engages students interested in administration of justice - including law and law enforcement - by going on outings, holding fundraisers and hosting guest speakers.
Cultural and Historical Preservation Society
The Cultural and Historic Preservation Society encourages a strong bond within the major while spreading the mission of preservation to the Salve community.
Dance Club
The Dance Club is Salve's student-run dance organization. They explore many different genres of dance, which is showcased at the end of each semester in a public performance for Salve and the surrounding community. All are welcome to join, and dancers range from having no experience to having extensive experience. Auditions are held at the beginning of each semester and are used for placement purposes.
Dialogue
Dialogue invites the Salve community to have a conversation about everyday issues. They are a Christian-based organization but value the perspectives of all beliefs. The culture of the group provides a comfortable, healthy environment for people to share perspectives and learn from their peers.
Environmental Club
Through meetings and discussions, the Environmental Club spreads awareness of environmental issues to help us all be better stewards of the earth. The club also takes part in activities such as nature walks, beach cleanups and activities for Earth Week.
Hispanic Latinx Student Organization
The Hispanic and Latinx Student Organization is a voice for the Hispanic/Latinx community on campus. They strive to educate the community about Hispanic/Latinx culture and discuss topics that affect the Hispanic/Latinx community politically, socially and culturally in the United States and throughout Latin America. As Salve's mission statement states, the Hispanic and Latinx Student Organization aspires to encourage students to work for a world that is harmonious, just and merciful both locally and overseas.
History Club
The History Club aims to join students that are enthusiastic about history and want to deepen their understanding of history and its effects on society. Students take a step back from memorizing dates and names to analyze the ways history has impacted "us." The club asks deeper questions such as "How is our generation making history?" and "Will our grandchildren be proud of us when they read about our generation in their history books?" The History Club is an organization for students who want to be a part of a community who aspire to be lifelong learners. Most of all, the club intends to bring together people who are interested in all aspects of history and desire to share this passion and intrigue with one another, as well as the rest of the Salve community.
Hydroponics Club
The Hydroponics Club is more than just a few scientists in a laboratory: it is a group interested in innovative ways to create sustainable growing methods, and it is open to all students in the Salve community. They study hydroponics as a sustainable method of growing, they use hydroponically grown plants for research, and they grow edible plants to sell at farmer’s markets. They also conduct outreach programs and provide tours for interested students. The hydroponics lab began as a research center, but today it is much more than that.
International Students Club
The International Student Club acts as a social and educational platform for international students as well as any other international-minded students at Salve.
Investment Club
The Investment Club offers a hands-on approach to learning about finance. Each year, the club competes at the Student Managed Investment Fund Consortium in Chicago, where universities from around the country tackle high-level finance challenges.
Math Club
The Math Club is open to any student interested in math. They meet monthly and participate in fun math-related activities, including movies, food and guest speakers.
Men's Rugby
Men's rugby's mission is to foster teamwork, sportsmanship and personal growth through competitive collegiate rugby, while building a supportive and inclusive community on and off the field.
Microsoft Excel Club
Mixtapes A Cappella
Mixtapes a cappella provides a gender inclusive space for vocal expression and performance opportunity. The club is a safe place for all Salve undergraduate students to learn and perform music together while supporting each other in their major and career choices.
Morgan's Message
Morgan's Message was created because Morgan lost her battle with mental health in 2019 at the age of 22. Although her life was cut way too short, Morgan’s legacy of unconditional love remains. Her energy empowers those she has left behind to transform devastation into action. We elevate her story to provide a platform where others feel safe to share their own, be a catalyst for change within our mental health care systems and foster a community for which tomorrow always exists.
Mosaic Student Newspaper
Mosaic is Salve's student-run newspaper, a source of campus news, sports and entertainment stories. The online version is published biweekly and students from all disciplines are welcome to join the staff.
Multicultural Student Organization
The Multicultural Student Organization strives to raise awareness about different cultures on campus. They host multiple events throughout the year in honor of these cultures in order to further educate students and faculty.
Multifaith Club
The Multifaith Club provides a safe and welcoming environment for people of all religious beliefs to express themselves, embrace who they are and explore their religious identity. Join them for movies, reflection questions, open dialogue and events. They encourage others to participate in creating an accepting environment that embraces all identities on campus.
Newport Experience Club
The Newport Experience Club offers students the opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich history, culture and natural beauty of Newport. Through organized outings and events, members explore local landmarks, enjoy seasonal activities and connect with the community, enhancing their college experience beyond the classroom.
Pep Band
The Pep Band aims to bring increased energy and Seahawk spirit to Salve's sporting events and other campus events through music.
Philosophy Club
The Philosophy Club continues the millennia-old tradition of philosophical investigation through conversation. They promote open communication through a secular platform and hope to help members find the tools to address the big questions in their lives.
Pickleball Club
Pickleball Club's mission is to create a fun and inclusive community for pickleball enthusiasts of all skill levels. They believe that pickleball is more than just a sport - it can be a way to promote physical fitness, create new friendships and feel a sense of belonging while finding enjoyment in a new hobby. Pickleball Club provides a welcoming environment where everyone can share their passion for the game, whether they are beginners learning the basics or experienced players enhancing their skills.
Ping Pong Club
The Ping Pong Club strives to engage the Salve community in a friendly competitive environment, introduce students to ping pong, and interact and build relationships with neighbors.
Pitches With Attitude
Pitches With Attitude is an all-female a cappella group that performs on campus and within the Newport community.
Pre-Health Club
The Pre-Health Club is an organization for students interested in pursuing a career in the health professions. They provide a variety of informational meetings, volunteer opportunities and graduate preparation. They focus on inviting medical professionals to discuss their experiences.
Pre-Law Society
Pre-Law Society is a student-led organization geared towards preparing undergraduate students for law school and the legal industry.
Protect Our Breasts
Protect Our Breasts shares the science on breast cancer development and prevention in digestible tips for the public. Their goal is to move beyond spreading awareness and towards the prevention of breast cancer development before it starts. They are a chapter of a national organization who combines the science and business worlds to discover what chemicals contribute to cancer development and which brands notice this and do not include these harmful chemicals in their products.
Protect Our Wildlife
An organization with the best interests of animals at heart, Protect Our Wildlife strives to raise awareness about the conditions of habitats, natural and man-made, and about the way people treat creatures around the world. They encourage individuals to form a united front against animal cruelty and injustice, promoting action above all else, even if it be simply telling a friend about a particular event. They hope that one day, the natural order of life will be restored and humans and animals will live together in a world full of understanding and respect, a world without exploitation and mistreatment.
Psychology Club
The Psychology Club aims to develop and enhance the learning experience of students interested in the field of psychology.
Salve Democrats
During this time of political unrest, it is extremely important that students have an outlet to discuss their ideas and create constructive solutions. College Democrats provides this outlet and attempts to organize solutions to student concerns. The organization strives to raise awareness of today's political issues and ensure that everyone takes advantage of the right to vote.
Salve Music Ensemble Club
The Salve Music Ensemble Club provides opportunities to sing and play music in an informal atmosphere. They sponsor the University Chorus and Madrigals Chorus, along with the symphonic band, orchestra, flute and jazz ensembles and a cappella groups. They also run open mic nights.
Salve Regina Hellenic Society
The organization’s mission is to create a community of Greek students as well as philhellene students at Salve, allowing for lasting connections and an enhanced campus experience by promoting religious and cultural values applicable to all members and integrating them into campus life; attending and participating in events led by local Greek-American organizations including but not limited to Greek festivals, glendis, local Greek Independence Day parades and/or celebrations; utilizing St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church to allow students to become involved in the local parish and Greek community therein; and emphasizing values of service and conducting initiatives throughout the year to allow for member involvement.
Salve Regina TreeHawks
The TreeHawks are a community of students working toward growing and caring for Salve's arboretum.
Salve Saves
Salve SAVES - Sexual Assault Violence Education and Support - provides educational opportunities, spread awareness and plays a part in the effort to end sexual assault. They also promote resources available to victims of sexual misconduct.
Salve Snapshot
Salve Snapshot aims to provide students who have a passion for photography with an opportunity to access and utilize photographic resources on campus, express themselves and gain knowledge on the art of photography.
Salve Young Republicans
Salve Young Republicans' objective is to create an atmosphere that promotes political awareness and leadership skills through the use of open dialogue.
SalveTHON
SalveTHON is a fundraiser that supports the Children's Miracle Network and benefits Hasbro Children's Hospital. Students work throughout the year, learning unique leadership experience while working closely with Hasbro. The year ends with a multi-hour fundraising event that celebrates the total amount of funds raised. At the event, students stand the entire time while playing games and interacting with the children and families from Hasbro.
Seahawk Radio
Seahawk Radio is radio for students, by students. Broadcasting from Gerety Hall, they welcome students with a broad range of interests. Their mission is to provide entertainment and information to the campus community at large, while also developing career skills for the students involved. They have professional equipment and a recently upgraded studio that gives students the opportunity to learn DJ skills and even DJ events on campus.
Social Work Club
The Social Work Club advocates for equality and human justice. They focus on community involvement and giving back to the community. One of their major events is a day of service, which allows members to interact with the Newport and Aquidneck Island communities.
SRyou Student Exposition Planning Committee
The SRyou Student Exposition planning committee is a group of dedicated and involved undergraduate students who plan and execute Salve's annual SRyou Student Exposition. This professional, campus-wide tradition allows students the opportunity to showcase their work and experiences to faculty, staff, peers and community members. Members of this committee gain event planning experience and establish a professional network across their fellow students, University faculty, staff and the Newport community.
StageFright
StageFright provides the enjoyment and craft of theater to its members and to the Salve community. They present opportunities for students to learn about and participate in various aspects of theater through putting on productions and taking part in workshops. They foster an appreciation for theater arts through exposure to different theatrical productions throughout the year.
Student Government Association
The Student Government Association serves as the liaison between students, faculty, staff and administrators. As a functioning and governing body at Salve, they work parallel with the University’s mission in effort to establish a world that is harmonious, just and merciful.
Student Nursing Organization
The Student Nursing Organization contributes to nursing education, provides programs representative of fundamental and current professional interests and concerns, and aids in the development of the nurse as a whole.
Swim Club
The Swim Club aims to enrich the lives of its members through swimming and a sense of community in and out of the pool.
Willow Literary Magazine
As Salve's literary journal, the Willow's purpose is to encourage and celebrate creative expression within the campus community through publication of prose, poetry and artwork primarily from the student population.
Women in Sports
The Women in Sports Club is dedicated to empowering and supporting women athletes, fostering a community that promotes leadership, camaraderie and a passion for sports.
Women's Rugby
Women's rugby is a club sport under the NCAA and also a recognized student organization at Salve.

Yoga Club
The Yoga Club makes significant contributions to the spiritual, emotional and physical well-being of the Salve community and beyond. They demonstrate this through mindfulness exercises like meditation and yoga.
