Visit Campus

Salve Regina University's oceanside campus is in Newport, Rhode Island, a bustling coastal city located 35 miles south of Providence, 75 miles from Boston and 180 miles from New York City.

Our main entrance is on the corner of Narragansett and Ochre Point avenues. For the most accurate directions, we recommend using Google Maps to navigate to and around campus.

If you're visiting Salve for a special event such as Commencement or an admissions open house, our Public Safety team will be on hand to provide directions, answer questions and help ensure a smooth arrival experience.

Driving Directions to Campus

Find custom directions

  • Take I-95 South to RI-4 South (exit 9).
  • After RI-4 becomes RI-1 South, take the exit to RI-138 East.
  • Follow RI-138 over the Jamestown Verrazzano Bridge and then the Claiborne Pell (Newport) Bridge.
  • At the first traffic light, turn left onto RI-238, then turn left onto JT Connell Highway.
  • At the second traffic light, bear right onto America’s Cup Avenue.
  • Stay in the left lane and go up the hill onto Memorial Boulevard, then turn right onto Bellevue Avenue.
  • Turn left onto Narragansett Avenue, then turn right onto Ochre Point Avenue to enter campus.
  • Take I-93 South to MA-24 South (exit 4).
  • Continue on MA-24 South through Brockton, Taunton and Fall River.
  • Cross the Sakonnet River Bridge onto Aquidneck Island, then take exit 1 (Middletown/Newport beaches) to RI-138 East (East Main Road).
  • In Middletown, turn left onto RI-138A (Aquidneck Avenue/Memorial Boulevard).
  • Follow RI-138A into Newport, then turn left onto Bellevue Avenue.
  • Turn left onto Narragansett Avenue, then turn right onto Ochre Point Avenue to enter campus.
  • Take I-95 North through Connecticut.
  • In Rhode Island, take exit 7 to RI-138 East.
  • Follow RI-138 over the Jamestown Verrazzano Bridge and then the Claiborne Pell (Newport) Bridge.
  • At the first traffic light, turn left onto RI-238, then turn left onto JT Connell Highway.
  • At the second traffic light, bear right onto America’s Cup Avenue.
  • Stay in the left lane and go up the hill onto Memorial Boulevard, then turn right onto Bellevue Avenue.
  • Turn left onto Narragansett Avenue, then turn right onto Ochre Point Avenue to enter campus.
  • Take MA-25 West to I-195 West toward New Bedford/Providence.
  • Follow I-195 West into Rhode Island and take RI-24 South toward Newport.
  • Cross the Sakonnet River Bridge onto Aquidneck Island, then take exit 1 (Middletown/Newport beaches) to RI-138 East (East Main Road).
  • In Middletown, turn left onto RI-138A (Aquidneck Avenue/Memorial Boulevard).
  • Follow RI-138A into Newport, then turn left onto Bellevue Avenue.
  • Turn left onto Narragansett Avenue, then turn right onto Ochre Point Avenue to enter campus.

Public Transportation

  • Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA): Offers bus and trolley services around Newport and throughout Rhode Island. Route 67 runs through campus and connects with popular tourist destinations such as the Newport Mansions, Cliff Walk, Audrain Automobile Museum and International Tennis Hall of Fame. RIPTA also provides free transportation to students with a valid Salve ID.
  • T.F. Green International Airport: Located 28 miles from campus in Warwick, Rhode Island, T.F. Green serves more than 40 nonstop destinations via nine airlines and was recently voted the #1 airport in the U.S. by Travel + Leisure magazine.
  • Logan International Airport: Located 75 miles from campus in Boston, Massachusetts, Logan serves more than 100 nonstop destinations via 40+ airlines.
  • Amtrak: Serves more than 500 destinations via 30+ routes throughout North America. The closest stations are in Kingston and Providence, both of which are on the RIPTA bus route.
