
Admitted International Students
The Center for Global Education and Fellowships is excited to welcome you to Salve Regina University! We help prospective international students throughout the application process and admitted students with all pre-arrival steps. We also host an international student orientation that helps smooth the transition to campus life.
First Things First: Get Your F-1 Visa
Step 1: Schedule a welcome call with our office.
Step 2: After your meeting, you'll complete these forms:
- Intake form
- Passport form
- Financial documentation form
- Copy of English language score (if applicable)
- Transcript form (if applicable)
- Course selection form (if applicable)
- SEVIS transfer-in form (if applicable)
Step 3: After your forms are approved, you'll receive an I-20 form, a legal document showing the U.S. embassy that Salve is sponsoring you for your F-1 student visa.
Step 4: Once you receive your I-20, you'll receive instructions on where to complete your F-1 student visa application and pay any associated fees for your interview.
Step 5: Schedule and book your embassy interview.
Step 6: When that is complete, submit these forms:
International Student Orientation (ISO)
Get to know Salve and Newport during a four-day orientation designed specifically to welcome new international students, full of information sessions, tours and visits - even a beach bonfire. Participation is required for all F-1 students. Meals and housing during orientation are free.
Important dates for the fall 2025 semester
- Arrive on campus for ISO: Tuesday, Aug. 26
- Attend ISO: Tuesday, Aug. 26 to Friday, Aug. 29
- New Seahawk Orientation: Saturday, Aug. 30 to Wednesday, Sept. 3
- Classes begin: Thursday, Sept. 4
- Last day of the fall 2025 semester: Friday, Dec. 12
Health Services Checklist
- You'll be enrolled in Salve's health plan automatically. We recommend keeping this insurance coverage.
- Bring a month's supply and a doctor's prescription for any medication that you take regularly.
- Have your teeth cleaned one more time at home. Cleanings are not covered by insurance and are very expensive in the U.S.
- If you wear eyeglasses or contact lenses, bring an extra pair in case of loss or accidental breakage.
How to Make a Tuition Payment
- Log in to Nelnet to view your account balance.
- Select "Make a Payment."
- Select the payment method "International Wire Transfer."
Convera GlobalPay
- Select the country where you're paying from, the amount due and click "Get a Quote."
- Select the payment method: Wire, credit card or mobile/online payment (WeChat, ALIPAY or other) and provide student details.
- Provide payer details. Who will make this payment? Check the "Use of Terms" box and proceed to payment.
- Print instructions for wire payment or log in payment provider. Notify me by SMS (tracking payment/optional).
- Complete your student payment online or in person.
Flywire
- Select your preferred payment method from the options provided. Options may include bank transfer, debit/credit card in your home currency, electronic payment or other local options.
- Follow the instructions provided to send funds to Flywire. Depending on your bank, bank transfers may be made online, in person or over the phone. For debit/credit card payments, enter your card details online to complete your payment.
- Track your payment by logging in to Nelnet at any time. You can receive text and email status updates each step of the way, including a confirmation when your payment has been delivered to your institution.
International Student Peer Mentors
Friendly, knowledgeable Salve students support new international students as they adjust to life on campus and in the U.S. They offer guidance on everything from academics and campus resources to making friends and exploring the local community.
