Global Business and Economics Major

At Salve Regina University, emerging global markets and the future of international business are central issues to our bachelor’s degree in global business and economics. Our broad-based curriculum and experiential learning opportunities have direct applications to the global environment, preparing students for a wide range of roles in the field of international business.
My course selection, professors and semester abroad prepared me to be versatile and taught me that it's okay to make mistakes that you can learn from, to enjoy what you do and who you're doing it with, and that if you want something in life you need to work hard for it and make it happen yourself.

Enhance Your Experience
Now a judge advocate with the U.S. Navy, Chris Chavarria ’19 was a double major in global business and economics and philosophy. His study abroad experience in Chile was a key component of his Salve experience. “It's vital for global business majors to study abroad because it helps them gain perspective. Learning about and experiencing other cultures broadens one's horizons, which allows them to better connect with people from other cultures and effectively conduct business with them.”

Seahawk Tank
Each semester, students enrolled in the Strategic Management Business Planning Capstone course work in teams to identify a potential business opportunity; develop mission and vision statements; conduct SWOT analyses; and accomplish market research. They develop strategic, marketing, human resource staffing and operations plans to support the venture. Teams make a formal presentation of their proposed business plan and compete for a spot in the annual Seahawk Tank – a competition in which the top ranked teams pitch their ideas to a panel of judges and compete for bragging rights and cash prizes.
