Fall Course Registration

Class of 2028

In late May, you will receive an email invitation to join Canvas, Salve Regina's learning management system. You will use Canvas to complete an advising and course registration checklist, which includes the foreign language placement exam, writing placement exam, exploratory advising session, pre-health advising support, general education course preferences, fiscal acceptance agreement and more.

Once your checklist is verified as complete, the Center for Advising, Career and Life Design's Compass advising team will register you for fall semester courses based on your major requirements, Core Curriculum requirements and other courses of interest. Courses fill on a first-come, first-served basis. Fall and winter athletes should complete the checklist as soon as possible to improve their chances of receiving a schedule that works with their practices. We do our best to build schedules to your preferences, but there are some conflicts that may be unavoidable.

  • Students who complete their checklist by June 7 will receive their fall 2024 schedule as early as June 26.
  • Exploratory students must meet with their advisor by June 14 to ensure their fall 2024 schedule is as accurate as possible. Exploratory students who were unable to meet the June 14 deadline will be invited to meet with their advisor in July. You can ask questions about your schedule and request any changes by scheduling a meeting with the Compass advisors.

The Compass advising team is an integral component to your first-year experience. Be sure to check your salve.edu email throughout the summer, as the team will contact you regarding your fall schedule, transfer credit and more. Please review the instructions for accessing your Salve Regina email.

Questions? Many of your questions will be answered in the Canvas checklist. If you have additional questions, email compasscenter@salve.edu using your salve.edu address. Our offices are open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET Monday-Friday.

How Your Schedule Impacts Your Bill

Course registration generates your fall 2024 bill. Students who wish to enroll in the six-month payment plan must complete the advising and registration checklist by June 7 to have their bill processed in time for the first payment. If you do not complete the checklist by June 7, we cannot guarantee that your fall schedule will be ready in time.

Important Deadlines and Registration Timeline

  • Week of May 20: Advising and course registration checklist opens in Canvas. Begin this checklist as soon as possible, as there are multiple steps to complete. The checklist will take a minimum of six hours to complete. Do not wait until the last week to complete the checklist, as course registration will prioritize students who complete the checklist first.
  • June 7: Deadline to complete the advising and course registration checklist in Canvas. If you do not meet this deadline, you are not guaranteed a course schedule by June 26.
  • June 10-25: Students who completed the checklist by June 7 will be registered for their fall 2024 courses by the Compass advising team. Courses will fill on a first-come, first served basis, prioritizing students who completed the checklist first.
  • June 14: Deadline for exploratory students to complete a virtual Compass advising meeting. Exploratory students who miss this deadline may receive a course schedule that does not reflect their interests, resulting in a tuition bill that may not be fully accurate. Exploratory students must meet with the exploratory advisor prior to the fall semester to ensure their schedule reflects their interests.
  • Beginning June 26: Course schedules and tuition bills are released to students who met the June 7 deadline. Please email the Business Office with questions.
  • July and August: Virtual advising meetings take place. Advisors will assist students with making changes to their course schedule.
  • July 15: Deadline to send transfer credit to Salve Regina (email sruregistrar@salve.edu).

If You Deposit After the Deadline

Your Salve Regina username and password are sent to your personal email 4-5 business days after your deposit date. After you receive your credentials, it may take a few additional days to receive your welcome email from the Center for Advising, Career and Life Design. Once you receive this email, complete your advising and registration checklist as soon as possible.

  • If you complete the checklist by June 7, you should receive a bill by June 26.
  • If you complete the checklist after June 7, you are not guaranteed a course schedule as early as June 26, but we will send you a fall schedule as soon as possible. Monitor your salve.edu email for communications from the team.
  • If you deposit after Aug. 12, your advising and registration process may differ from the instructions on this webpage. Monitor your salve.edu email for guidance. We will support you as quickly as possible in course registration and advising.

Be sure to review additional communications from the University on the Class of 2028 webpage.

Foreign Language Placement Exam

If you studied Spanish, French or Italian in high school, you are required to complete an online language placement exam. In the advising and registration checklist, you can access the link to complete the exam. Course registration cannot take place until this is complete.

Students who did not study Spanish, French or Italian in high school do not need to complete this exam.
