Throughout 2025, it felt like if you looked in any direction at Salve Regina University something significant was happening. Here’s a look back at some of the stories that most interested our readers this year.

Salve Regina to open new residence hall in fall 2026

The announcement of our new residence hall was the story readers clicked on the most in 2025. We’ve watched it take shape on our oceanside campus in 2025 and look forward to its opening in fall 2026. Located on the corner of Shepard and Lawrence avenues, the state-of-the-art facility will provide housing for 205 students.

What it was like filming “The Gilded Age” Season 3 at Salve

With “Gilded Age” fever in the zeitgeist, readers wanted to know what it was like to have crews shooting episodes for Season 3 of the hit HBO series on campus. Salve was rolled right into the drama, with scenes filmed inside and outside our beloved Ochre Court, and students, alumni and faculty appearing as extras.

Salve Regina receives $5 million to build new student center pavilion

Readers wanted to know more about the $5 million gift from Salve trustee Barbara A. Papitto to help the University continue our efforts to deliver a transformative educational experience for each student. The gift funded the creation of a new garden pavilion on campus that will be a flexible space for student/faculty programming and events. It is scheduled to open in fall 2026.

New Survey Results: RI Democrats and Republicans are living in different realities

Defense of civilian professors at the U.S. service academies

An op-ed penned by history professor Dr. William Leeman also drew many readers. In it, he demonstrates how the combination of dedicated military and civilian faculty gives our nation’s future military leaders the best of both worlds.

Building a community of connection and hope through NOSOLO

The combination of a hot brand and a strong underlying mission made this story about Salve alumni John and Sarah Toracinta’s NOSOLO one of our most read of the year. Their brand's message reminds people they don’t have to struggle with mental health issues alone.

Class of 2025 inspired to put their mercy mission in motion at 75th Commencement

A fitting end to our most-viewed stories list, the story encapsulating Salve’s 75th Commencement, featuring inspiring remarks and celebrating our incredible students, also closes our last story of 2025.

We are energized by all the accomplishments, work, compassion, innovation and dedication to the mercy mission that we see in the Salve community every day. We look forward to trying to keep up in 2026! Peace and joy to all.
