Hospitality and Tourism Management Minor

Newport Rhode Island

Designed to complement any major, Salve Regina University's minor in hospitality and tourism management explores how leisure is facilitated through hospitality services and tourism experiences, as well as its impact on both local and global economies and ecosystems. Students develop a strong foundation in the lodging, tourism, events and restaurant industries, preparing them for a variety of career opportunities in these dynamic fields.

With Newport as a premier hospitality and tourism destination, students benefit from access to industry leaders, hands-on experiences and networking opportunities that enhance their professional development.

A Growing Industry

Hospitality is one of the world’s oldest and fastest-growing industries. The ability to assist consumers, meet their needs or simply make them feel at home is an important component of nearly every business today - meaning even companies from outside the tourism industry are hiring hospitality associates to form beneficial relationships with clients.

Our minor in hospitality and tourism management provides the knowledge and competencies needed to successfully oversee a restaurant, hotel or independently owned business. We offer foundational courses in the broader hospitality and tourism industry with a focus on both the customer service experience and industry impact - while also allowing students to choose relevant electives that support different professions and sectors.

Center for Business Outreach

Since its launch in 2014, the Center for Business Outreach has provided opportunities for students to collaborate with more than 200 local business owners, entrepreneurs, civic and nonprofit organizations to explore solutions to real-world challenges. Initiatives have totaled more than 90,000 hours of experiential engagement and 400+ networking activities.
