Department of Biology and Biomedical Sciences
The Department of Biology and Biomedical Sciences provides the scientific knowledge and ethical understanding needed to be a responsible steward of the earth. With evolution as an organizing concept, our programs develop the skills necessary for critical and creative thinking, thoughtful and careful analysis, and sound judgment.
We provide a hands-on approach to the exploration of scientific methods. These important skills are needed to advance scientific knowledge and, moreover, are critical in preparing our students for the challenge of exciting careers in the biological sciences.
Biology is a massive field that encompasses more than just a career as a doctor or cancer researcher. There is a great wide world of issues ready to be solved that might not mean you are going down a traditional or expected path. Take the time to learn where your passions lie and see where in the world your passions are needed the most.
