Orientation for Families

Welcome to the Salve Regina family! Our relationship with families is a partnership through which we create the optimal support system for all students. Our orientation for families will provide the information and resources you need to support your student during their critical first year. Offered by the Office of Student Engagement in collaboration with a variety of campus partners, the day will include informative sessions designed to welcome you to Salve Regina, answer your questions and prepare you and your student for the college experience.

Summer Webinars for Families

These online sessions will provide essential information and resources to ensure a smooth transition to college life. Whether you're a parent, guardian or family member, these webinars will help you stay informed and engaged as your student embarks on this exciting journey.

Webinar Highlights

  • Introduction to campus resources: Learn about the various support services available to students, including academic advising, health and wellness resources, and extracurricular activities.
  • Student life: Discover opportunities for involvement on campus, from clubs and organizations to community service and leadership development.
  • Health and safety: Gain insights into the measures in place to ensure your student’s well-being, including campus security, mental health services and emergency protocols.
  • Q&A sessions: Engage with University staff and have your questions answered in real time, ensuring you have all the information you need.

Campus Connections: How Families Can Encourage Student Involvement

Join the Office of Student Engagement to discover the vibrant campus life your student will experience at Salve. Learn about campus events, cherished traditions and diverse clubs and organizations, and get valuable tips on how to prepare for New Seahawk Orientation.

Our orientation program for families is not mandatory, but you are strongly encouraged to participate.

You will meet other family members from the Class of 2028, staff from various campus offices and other members of the Salve Regina community.

During our orientation for families, you can attend information sessions and a resources fair, help your student move in to their residence hall, and attend a family social along with our traditional welcome and blessing ceremony.

Students are billed a $300 fee for New Seahawk Orientation. As part of this fee, students may bring up to two family members to participate in family orientation.

We are unable to provide on-campus accommodations for families. If you are traveling from a distance or wish to explore the Newport area before or after Aug. 31, our hotel partners provide accommodations at reasonable rates.
