Salve climbs eight places on U.S. News & World Report college ranking

According to the latest data from the National Center for Education Statistics, there are about 2,695 degree-granting four-year colleges and universities in the United States. Every year, key publications and research organizations look at those institutions from various angles and publish their annual "best of" college lists to highlight those that stand out. Salve Regina University is once again recognized on these lists for the quality of its academics, commitment to service and beautiful campus, among other things.  

Salve climbed eight places in the 2027 U.S. News & World Report ranking, moving to 16th among universities in the North region. Salve also made the report's list of regional "best value schools," "top performers on social mobility," "undergraduate teaching" and "best undergraduate nursing" and "best undergraduate psychology" programs.

The 2027 edition of the annual Princeton Review once again recognizes Salve among the best (392) colleges in the nation, and among regional colleges in the Northeast. Salve's McKillop Library made Princeton Review's list of the nation's 25 best college libraries, and its health services are ranked No. 6. The University is also ranked among the top "green colleges," those with the "most beautiful campuses," those that are "most engaged in community service" and those for which the "college city gets high marks."  

Time magazine too, recognized Salve on its 2026-27 list of America's Best Colleges, ranking those that excel at student outcomes, learning environment and attractiveness to students.

Thanks to its seaside location and historic campus in Newport, Salve is also again recognized as one of the best college locations by Niche and appears on notable "most beautiful campus" lists, including Architectural Digest's and Business Insider's.
