Music Auditions
Music and Music Education
To pursue the B.A. in music or B.A.S. in music education at Salve Regina, students must apply and be accepted to the University, and also audition for and be admitted to the music program. Students who wish to minor in music are welcome to audition, although it is not required.
Current students who wish to pursue the B.A., B.A.S or minor in music should contact Peter Davis, program coordinator, to gain approval and/or arrange an audition.
Requirements for Prospective Students
Students who are applying for fall admission complete a two-step application process.
Step 1: Apply to Salve Regina
Apply using the Common Application and select music as your major.
Step 2: Apply to the Music Program
Once your application to Salve Regina has been submitted, you will receive a login for your student status page, where you can complete the audition form and upload your pre-recorded video. You will be notified of your acceptance to the music program at the time of admission. Visual and performing arts scholarship recipients will also be notified of their awards at the time of admission.
Auditions must be submitted by the supporting materials deadline for each decision plan:
- Early decision and early action I: Nov. 1 application deadline, Nov. 15 supporting materials deadline, Dec. 15 notification
- Early action II: Jan. 5 application deadline, Jan. 15 supporting materials deadline, Feb. 15 notification
- Regular decision: Feb. 1 application deadline, Feb. 15 supporting materials deadline, April 1 notification
Audition Guidelines
Applicants should submit a video with two contrasting pieces. Contrasting could be classic/contemporary, jazz/traditional or upbeat/slower. Vocalists should submit at least one piece in another language, if possible. Please ensure that your link is shareable (YouTube, Vimeo or Google Drive are all good options) and security settings allow your video link to open immediately. At the beginning of the video, please introduce yourself and credit the composer or arranger. After submitting your video, a date and time will be coordinated for a live, virtual interview.
Step 3: Plan a Visit (Optional)
Day of Music
Experience a day in the life of a Salve Regina Music major. Your visit will include a campus tour with a student ambassador, followed by a concentrated experience in the dance program. Day of Music dates for the 2024-2025 academic year are still being determined. Please keep an eye on your emails and check back on our website for updated information.
