Athletics
Division III athletics provide students the opportunity to pursue their sport while prioritizing their studies. We offer 20 varsity teams, including baseball, basketball, cross country, equestrian, hockey, lacrosse, sailing, soccer and tennis.

Noe Mercado ’14

From El Salvador to Newport and beyond, Mercado’s story is one of triumph and determination despite the odds. His tenacity came in handy as he tackled the biggest challenge of 2020: developing a vaccine for COVID-19. “Every experience has brought me to this point – everything that happened at Salve, everything that I learned and everything that I’m learning now. I couldn’t be more grateful for my time at Salve.”

Kelsey Murray ’12
Associate vice president and global head of social media, Nasdaq
As the global head of social media at Nasdaq, Murray is responsible for designing and overseeing implementation of enterprise social media strategy, ensuring it aligns with the brand’s vision and voice. “There were people who helped me at Salve – find my voice, find my vision, find my passion, find my purpose. And it’s my goal to do the same for the next generation of women and Salve graduates.”

Daniel Regan ’17
Intelligence analyst, U.S. Department of Homeland Security
As Salve Regina’s first recipient of the Boren Award, Regan studied in Jordan, where he took coursework in intensive Arabic and taught English to Syrian refugees. “I hope to further promote Salve’s mercy mission by focusing on disadvantaged populations worldwide, those who really don’t have the resources, and provide them with literacy skills so they can grow and have opportunities to receive an education and join the workforce.”

Johnny Mulera ’24, Mitch Walinski ’23 earn silver medals at FISU World University Games
Mulera and Walinksi have a lot in common. They were bothtransfer students to Salve Regina, they are hockey players, and the two just helped the U.S. win its first ever silver medal in hockey. The U.S. hasn’t medalled since the 1972 edition of the games, when they won a bronze medal.

Lynne Mello named chief marketing and communications officer
Lynne Mello, a marketing and communications professional with more than 15 years of experience both in private industry and higher education, has been appointed as Salve Regina’s new chief marketing and communications officer. Mello will collaborate with stakeholders across campus in advancing the core values of the University.

Morgan Dubay ’24 learns to combine dance, psychology for healing
Morgan Dubay ’24 is a psychology and dance double major with a minor in applied behavioral analysis. This combination of different passions has helped her see how the arts can be therapeutic and transformative, and she has even choreographed a recent piece in honor of mental health advocacy.
