Division III athletics provide students the opportunity to pursue their sport while prioritizing their studies. We offer 20 varsity teams, including baseball, basketball, cross country, equestrian, hockey, lacrosse, sailing, soccer and tennis.

From El Salvador to Newport and beyond, Mercado’s story is one of triumph and determination despite the odds. His tenacity came in handy as he tackled the biggest challenge of 2020: developing a vaccine for COVID-19. “Every experience has brought me to this point – everything that happened at Salve, everything that I learned and everything that I’m learning now. I couldn’t be more grateful for my time at Salve.”

Kelsey Murray ’12

Associate vice president and global head of social media, Nasdaq

As the global head of social media at Nasdaq, Murray is responsible for designing and overseeing implementation of enterprise social media strategy, ensuring it aligns with the brand’s vision and voice. “There were people who helped me at Salve – find my voice, find my vision, find my passion, find my purpose. And it’s my goal to do the same for the next generation of women and Salve graduates.”

Dan Regan

Daniel Regan ’17

Intelligence analyst, U.S. Department of Homeland Security

As Salve Regina’s first recipient of the Boren Award, Regan studied in Jordan, where he took coursework in intensive Arabic and taught English to Syrian refugees. “I hope to further promote Salve’s mercy mission by focusing on disadvantaged populations worldwide, those who really don’t have the resources, and provide them with literacy skills so they can grow and have opportunities to receive an education and join the workforce.”

John Rangel Marte

John Rangel Marte ’24 receives Gilman Scholarship to study abroad

A major in business administration, Marte was picked to be part of the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program to support his spring 2023 semester study abroad program in Barcelona, Spain. Marte was also selected to take part in a special program to travel to Brussels, Belgium, to visit the European Union’s headquarters.

Chase Perry

Chase Perry ’25 interns as veterinary technician

Perry, a biology major, loves interning at the Potter League for Animals -- a nonprofit dedicated to the wellbeing of animals throughout Rhode Island. The organization helps over 10,000 animals each year, making it the most comprehensive animal welfare program in the state.

Zachary Russell

Zachary Russell ’23 registers childhood home as historic

Russell grew up in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, in a house unlike many others. He lives in a 1928 bungalow with very little changes made to the house since it was built. Russell has lived there since he was born, and as he grew older started working on the house, fixing things and becoming more aware of the idea of preservation.
