Academic Center for Excellence

The Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) provides support programs and services that empower Salve students to achieve academic success. We provide free peer-to-peer tutoring, writing consultations, academic coaching, workshops, community-oriented programs and many other resources to help you gain confidence and design your personalized approach to learning.
Subject Tutoring
Peer tutoring is available in a wide variety of subjects and is offered for individuals or small groups by appointment, with last-minute drop-in sessions often available.

Writing Center
The Writing Center fosters your growth, independence and confidence in your writing skills by giving focused feedback specific to each writer and assignment.

Peer Academic Coaching
The peer academic coaching program is jointly sponsored by ACE and the Center for Advising, Career and Life Design. Peer academic coaches are typically juniors or seniors who are passionate about Salve and about learning.
Coaches offer single appointments or ongoing support throughout the semester. They can help you develop your learning skills and study habits. Coaches are trained and supervised by professional learning specialists and advisors.
Coaches cover topics such as:
- Academic persistence
- Growth mindset
- Time management
- Effective study habits
- Note-taking
- Finding and using resources at Salve
