Welcome to Salve Regina! We are so happy that you are joining our campus community. New Seahawk Orientation will provide you with an educational and engaging introduction to life at Salve Regina. You will meet fellow new students, learn about University resources, and explore the campus and Newport community.
New Seahawk Orientation is mandatory for all new students, including commuter and transfer students. There are several signature events included in New Seahawk Orientation, including the day of service and Convocation. A variety of fun and engaging evening activities will also be offered, including a carnival night, outdoor movie and bonfire on the beach.
Day of Service
Salve Regina considers participation in community service a visible way to live the University’s mercy mission. During the day of service, you will volunteer on or off campus with your First Year Transitions class. If you volunteer off campus, you will know where your service site is ahead of time so you can dress accordingly.
A University tradition that officially opens the new academic year and welcomes new students into the academic community, Convocation is a celebration that marks the beginning of your career at Salve Regina.

Classes for the fall 2022 semester begin Wednesday, Sept. 7.
What is my room assignment for the fall?
The room assignment process begins with an online housing application, which provides the Office of Residence Life with the information necessary to assign you a roommate(s) and residence hall room.
Housing applications are available online from May 16 through July 1. After July 1, room and roommate requests are processed. Please note that roommate requests are only granted when all students requesting roommates have indicated the option on their respective applications. In late July, you will receive notification through your Salve Regina email address that your room assignment and roommate information is available.

What about textbooks?

You may highlight and make notes in both used and new rented textbooks. You may also convert a rented textbook to a purchase any time during the semester by paying the difference between the rental and purchase price.
