Commencement Calendar

  • By March 11: Order cap, gown and hood at jostens.com.
  • By March 17: Complete the Commencement activities RSVP form online.
  • Month of April: Pick up cap, gown and hood at the Salve Regina bookstore.
  • Week of April 15: Commencement tickets and announcements are mailed to the address listed on the application to graduate.
  • May 1: Final day to pay the graduation fee and settle any outstanding financial obligations.
  • Week of May 15-19: Senior Week and Commencement Ball. For more information, call the Office of Student Engagement at (401) 341-2915.
  • May 20: Nursing Pinning, McAuley Hall lawn. Assemble at 9:30 a.m. under the tent, ceremony begins at 10 a.m.
  • May 20: Baccalaureate Mass, Our Lady of Mercy Chapel. Assemble at 3:45 p.m. in the chapel, ceremony begins at 4 p.m.
  • May 21: Undergraduate Commencement, McAuley Hall lawn. Assemble at 8:15 a.m. in Rodgers Recreation Center, procession begins at 9:15 a.m.

Tickets and Announcements

Tickets are required for admission to the undergraduate Commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 21. Tickets will be mailed via the U.S. Postal Service to your preferred mailing address as noted on the application to graduate. Tickets are not needed for the Nursing Pinning or the Baccalaureate Mass on Saturday, May 20.

Each graduate will be issued six tickets and one announcement (due to supply issues). The announcement cannot be used to gain admission to the Commencement ceremony. No additional tickets will be available. Should you wish more than one commemorative announcement, these may be purchased from Jostens by calling (800) 854-7464 or online at jostens.com.

Graduation Fee and Financial Obligations

A graduation fee of $350 is charged. Even if you do not participate in Commencement activities, this fee must be paid to defray the cost of caps and gowns, announcements, diplomas and diploma cases, mailings and activities. This fee is automatically billed to your account and must be paid to the Business Office before May 1.

In addition, all financial obligations to the University, including outstanding tuition, library fees, parking violations, etc., must be satisfied. The University will not issue your diploma or final transcripts until your account is settled. Please contact the Business Office at (401) 341- 2900 to ensure your account is in good standing or to make payment arrangements.

Commencement Week and Commencement Ball

Commencement Week activities and the Commencement Ball are organized by the Office of Student Engagement and details will be posted as they become available. For more information, call (401) 341-2915.

Latin Honors

All announcements concerning Latin honors will be handled by the Office of the Registrar. Please do not contact the office to determine your eligibility for honors. Just before Commencement weekend, on late Friday afternoon, a list of the Latin honors recipients will be posted on the Commencement website. All baccalaureate degree candidates will be notified by email with a link to the honors webpage. Students with a cumulative GPA of 3.60 or higher will receive honor cords, which are worn at Commencement.

Academic Attire

Full academic regalia (including a cap) is required for the Commencement ceremony. During the ceremony, only University-recognized cords, stoles or pins may be worn on the outside of the gown.

Bachelor's degree candidates must order a cap, tassel, gown and hood through jostens.com by March 11. The cost is included in the graduation fee. Regalia will be available for pickup from the Salve Regina bookstore in April. Questions about regalia should be directed to the bookstore at (401) 847-9086 or 0537mgr@follett.com.

Diplomas

During the Commencement ceremony, all graduates receive a diploma cover. Graduates will automatically receive their diploma via U.S. Postal Service at the address listed on the application to graduate.
