Education:
- B.A. in English, Purdue University (1989)
- M.A. in English, Ohio State University (1992)
- Ph.D. in English, Ohio State University (2002)
Research Interests:
My scholarly work focuses on the intersection of film and other narrative forms - literature, graphic novels, video games, etc. In particular, I've done a great deal of work on the film-related career of novelist William Faulkner. Other areas of interest include post-colonialism and world cinema, Hitchcock, and the Coen Brothers.
Personal Statement:
I am largely responsible for the interdisciplinary film minor at Salve Regina, and I'm hoping that interested students will come away from these film classes with a greater understanding of film as art and culture, the "practical" realities of filmmaking, and a more sophisticated engagement with visual literacy. I try to treat my students with respect, as colleagues in fact, and in exchange I expect much from them.
