Dance Auditions

In order to pursue the B.A. in dance at Salve Regina, students must apply and be accepted to the University and audition for and be admitted to the dance program. Students who wish to minor in dance are welcome to audition, although it is not required.

Current students who wish to pursue the B.A. in dance should contact department chairwoman Lindsay Guarino to gain approval and/or arrange an audition.

Audition Methods

Live audition: In-person auditions are preferred, and will also offer the opportunity to interact with current students and learn more about Salve Regina's dance program. Students who audition will first participate in a class rooted in jazz and rhythm-based contemporary styles, and then perform a solo demonstrating an ownership of movement vocabulary that feels comfortable on their body. The choreography and movement should emphasize rhythm, musicality and personal style.

Upcoming audition dates:

  • Friday, Nov. 19, 2021
  • Friday, Jan. 28, 2022
  • Saturday, Feb. 26, 2022

Recorded audition: Students who cannot attend in-person auditions may submit a recorded audition. Applicants should submit a 2-1/2 to 3 minute video in a style of their choice, following the above guidelines for a solo performance. At the beginning of the video, please introduce yourself and credit the composer/music artist and choreographer.

Students will be notified of their acceptance to the dance program within three weeks of the audition. This audition will also serve as the submission for students who apply by the Nov. 1 or Jan. 5 deadline and submit the application for the visual and performing arts scholarship.
