Community Friendship Program
Center for Global Education and Fellowships
Salve Regina's community friendship program is designed to promote cultural exchange, enhance student engagement and provide crucial support to our international students during times of transition.
Many international students cannot return to their home country during academic breaks and must remain on campus when other students leave for holidays and the summer. The community friendship program matches international students who want to learn more about local culture with individuals and families who want to share their traditions.
Program Goals
- Cultural exchange: Create enriching opportunities for students to share and learn from diverse cultural experiences.
- Community involvement: Strengthen the bond between the Salve Regina community and international students by building meaningful connections.
How to Get Involved
Interested students and hosts can review more information and apply online. Participants are matched based on shared interests, cultural practices and more.
- Students: This is your chance to connect with local families, experience life in the community and share your own culture.
- Hosts: Open your home and heart to one or more international students and be a part of their journey at Salve Regina. Hosts commit to organizing one to two excursions and/or home visits per semester. Examples include meeting for coffee, going for a walk, visiting a local attraction, attending a local event or hosting a meal at home.
