Professional Experience:

I am the president of Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Needham (BID Needham), a position I have held since August 2011. In this role, my focus has been in the areas of enhancing quality and employee engagement, enabling the hospital to receive a number of recognitions including the Massachusetts Health and Hospital Association's CHART award, consecutive "A" ratings from the Leapfrog Group and, most recently, Leapfrog's "Top Hospital" designation. I have also built collaborative efforts within the Beth Israel Lahey Health system and led the growth of inpatient, outpatient and surgical programs at BID Needham. In my role, I have overseen the construction of Lank Cancer Center, a comprehensive cancer center on BID Needham's campus; a new surgical pavilion in 2014; and the planning and development of a 37,000-square-foot outpatient clinical center, The Trotman Family Outpatient Clinical Center, which opened in the spring of 2019. Prior to joining BID Needham, I served in the dual role of executive vice president of CharterCare Health Partners and chief executive officer of St. Joseph Health Services of Rhode Island.

I have served on numerous community boards, including previous roles on the MHA Political Action Steering Committee and on the board of the Massachusetts Council of Community Hospitals. I am a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and currently serve on the board of ACHE’s Massachusetts chapter as immediate past president.

I reside in Barrington, Rhode Island with my wife and our two sons. I am an ex-officio member of the BID Needham board of trustees and board of advisors by virtue of my position as president.
