Personal Statement:

Originally from Mt. Shasta, California, I grew up in a household of educators. Both of my parents instilled in me the power and importance of having an education. After my undergraduate degree I was uncertain of my direct pathway, but knew it related to education. I decided to dive in and move to a new city and start exploring opportunities. I have worked in higher education for the last 20 years in the Las Vegas valley at both the secondary and post-secondary level. I found a passion and love working with under-represented populations to help provide access to students who may have felt college was not an option. This is what also led me to my M.Ed. program in career and technical education. After 20 years, I wanted to find a new part of the country where I could work with smaller populations of students and make an impact on their career/workforce development. When I learned about the Salve Compass program and the integration of both career, college and real-world experiences, I knew I wanted to be part of a forward-thinking institution. I am excited to bring my experience and passion to my role here at Salve Regina. I truly believe that small impacts can make for big change not only in our schools but in our communities.
