Political Science

College Democrats

College Democrats represents the Democratic Party and progressive views among Salve students. They strive to get students involved in electoral campaigns, lobbying, community service and political education and work to engage and mobilize the campus to grow a large, diverse and closely connected political community and group of friends.

The club invites speakers for discussions and lectures, engages in political debates on campus, attends social and political events to meet Rhode Island Democratic leaders and candidates, and builds links with chapters of College Democrats at other institutions.

College Republicans

College Republicans

College Republicans represents the Republican Party and conservative views among Salve Regina students. They strive to get students involved in electoral campaigns, lobbying, community service and political education and work to engage and mobilize the campus to grow a large, diverse and closely connected political community and group of friends.

The club invites speakers for discussions and lectures, engages in political debates on campus, attends social and political events to meet Rhode Island Republican leaders and candidates, and builds links with chapters of College Republicans at other institutions.

Model United Nations

Model United Nations gives students the opportunity to get involved in world politics and foreign affairs outside the classroom. Club members attend competitive intercollegiate conferences where they represent the policy positions of real countries debating and negotiating a wide range of political, economic, legal, social and environmental issues. This active and demanding club sends delegations to several conferences each year. Regular meetings allow students to hone debating skills, share international interests and prepare for conferences.

Pi Sigma Alpha

Pi Sigma Alpha, the national political science honor society, promotes curricular and co-curricular activities related to political science and stimulates scholarship and intelligent interest in the subject of government.
