Research Interests:

My Scholarly interests are mostly focused on the continuing education of myself and my fellow teachers. I was elected by the New England Regional Members of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) to be their Regional Governor in 2018. I served in that position from 2018 to 2022. As the New England Region Governor, I ran Regional Student Auditions and also managed a bi-yearly Regional Conference for members. I also coordinated with the various state chapters in the Region with their area events and also keep chapters connected with the National Organization. As a member of both NATS and the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), I keep up on new developments in teaching techniques and understand that, as a teacher, you must always be a student.

Professional Experience:

Over the years I have performed as featured soloist in many Oratorio and recital performances. Since my time at Indiana University as a member of the Singing Hoosiers and the IU Vocal Jazz Ensemble (as well as a member of college rock bands), I have always had the ability to sing in all styles of music. Although my days of performing with bands may be in the past, the skills I gained during those years have proved invaluable as a teacher tasked with cross-training in a voice studio.

As a voice instructor I have coached many of my students in successful auditions for Massachusetts Central District Choir, All State Choir, NATS Regional & National Competitions, Classical Singer National Competitions, and roles in school and community musical productions. I have also coached students through the live “judges” auditions for both The Voice and American Idol.
