Adopt-a-Spot maintenance days

Help care for our Adopt-a-Spot garden in Eisenhower Park by watering and weeding the flowerbeds. The park is in Washington Square, a quick trolley ride away from Salve Regina. Maintenance takes place from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays, and members of the University community are encouraged to consider supporting this initiative on a regular basis.

Saturday, Sept. 16: Clean Ocean Access

Volunteers are needed at Easton's (First) Beach in Newport from noon to 2 p.m. to help Clean Ocean Access with a beach cleanup.
Transportation: Van transportation is provided. Pick up at Miley Hall at 11:45 a.m., return at 2 p.m.

Saturday, Sept. 30: Norman Bird Sanctuary Harvest Fair

Volunteers are needed from noon to 5 p.m. to help Norman Bird Sanctuary with various children's games, arts and crafts.
Transportation: Van transportation is provided. Pick up at Miley Hall at 11:45 a.m., return at 5 p.m.

Tuesday, Oct. 3: Emmanuel Church Soup Kitchen

Volunteers are needed from 4:30-6:30 p.m. to set up, work and clean up the soup kitchen.
Transportation: This site is located on the trolley line.

Friday, Oct. 7: Trinity Church Pumpkin Patch

Volunteers are needed from 5-8 p.m. to unload pumpkins at Trinity Church in Newport.
Transportation: This site is located on the trolley line.

Sunday, Oct. 8: Newport Marathon

Volunteers are needed from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. to help with dune protection and recycling for the Newport Marathon event at Easton's (First) Beach. Volunteers may sign up for shifts: 5-8 a.m., 8-11 a.m., 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and noon to 3 p.m.
Transportation: Not provided, as event is in walking distance from campus.

Thursday, Oct. 12 and Friday, Oct. 13: Daffy Days

Volunteers are needed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Wakehurst lawn to pack 45,000 daffodil bulbs in "Let's Get Daffy" bags, which will be given to Newport residents and businesses to plant throughout the city.
Transportation: Not available for this on-campus event.

Saturday, Oct. 14: Daffodil Giveaway

Volunteers are needed at Easton's (First) Beach to distribute daffodil bulbs to Newport residents and businesses.

Saturday, Oct. 29: Fall Recycling Day

Volunteers are needed at Easton's (First) Beach from 8 a.m. to noon to set up the event, help traffic flow, greet and breakdown the event.

Tuesday, Nov. 7: Emmanuel Church Soup Kitchen

Volunteers are needed from 4:30-6:30 p.m. to set up, work and clean up the soup kitchen.

Saturday, Nov. 4: Race for Open Space

Volunteers are needed to from 9:15-11:30 a.m. to help with the Aquidneck Land Trust's Race for Open Space. Duties include race registration, helping at street crossings along the race course and spotting/directing runners along the race course.
Transportation: Van transportation is provided. Pick up at Miley Hall 9 a.m., return at 11:30 a.m.

Tuesday, Nov. 7: St. Paul's Church Warm Up Wednesday

Volunteers are needed from 6-8 p.m. at the Mercy Center to bake sweet treats for St. Paul's Church's Warm Up Wednesday program.

Monday, Nov. 27 and Tuesday, Nov. 28: Salvation Army Bell Ringing

Volunteers are needed from 5-8 p.m. to ring the Salvation Army bells at the Stop & Shop on Bellevue Avenue.

Volunteers are needed from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. to ring the Salvation Army bells at the Stop & Shop on Bellevue Avenue. Volunteers may sign up for two-hour shifts: 10 a.m. to noon, noon to 2 p.m., 2-4 p.m., 4-6 p.m. or 6-8 p.m.
