Sept. 13: Women's Resource Center

Volunteers are needed Saturday, Sept. 13 to assist the Women's Resource Center with a community event at Hunter Park in the Point section of Newport.
Pick up at 10:45 a.m., return at 3 p.m. (trolley)

Sept. 14: Third annual Star Ride

Volunteers are needed Sunday, Sept. 14 to staff a water stop at Cluny School for the third annual StarRide to benefit the Star Kids Scholarship Program.
Pick up at 7:10 a.m., return at 10 a.m.

Sept. 18: J/24 World Championships

Volunteers are needed Thursday, Sept. 18 to assist Sail Newport with the measurement process for the J/24 World Championships.
Pick up at 11:45 a.m., return at 4 p.m.

Sept. 21: Walk to End Alzheimer's

Volunteers are needed on campus Sunday, Sept. 21 to help the Alzheimer's Association set up and break down and hand out water to participants. Volunteers will meet behind the O'Hare Academic Center at 10:30 a.m. and will be finished by 3 p.m. Transportation is not available for this on-campus event.

Sept. 24: Clean City Program

Volunteers are needed to stuff packets regarding the new refuse collection program for Newport residents. This volunteer opportunity will take place at the Edward King House.
Pick up at 3:45 p.m., return at 7:30 p.m. (trolley)

Sept. 28: Cluny School Country Fair

Cluny's 53rd Country Fair will be held Sunday, Sept. 28. Each year, the school transforms into an old-fashioned country fair with carnival games, hayrides, field games and live music.
Pick up at 10:30 a.m., return at 3 p.m.

Oct. 4-5: 40th annual Harvest Fair

Volunteers are needed at the Norman Bird Sanctuary on Saturday, Oct. 4 and Sunday, Oct. 5 to help with arts and crafts, children's games and entertainment.
Pick up at 12:30 p.m., return at 5 p.m.

Oct. 7: Emmanuel Church soup kitchen

Volunteers are needed Tuesday, Oct. 7 for Emmanuel Church’s monthly soup kitchen.
Pick up at 2:45 p.m., return at 5 p.m.

Oct. 17-18 and 24-25: Fortress of Nightmares

Volunteer opportunities for Fort Adams’ Fortress of Nightmares include:

  • Scaring – Will be assigned a location in the fort to scare customers
  • Security – Patrol fort grounds and assist with crowd management (must be 21-plus)
  • Box office – Scan tickets with barcode scanner and laptop
  • Volunteer care – Keep volunteer area stocked with snacks and drinks, organize costume area and assist with check-in/out process
  • Nightly ops crew – Complete a nightly checklist to open and close the attractions around the fort

Pick up at 4:30 p.m., return at 10 p.m.

Oct. 19: Climbing With Cluny School 5K

Volunteers are needed Sunday, Oct. 19 to staff a water stop at Cluny School for the Climbing With Cluny School 5K.
Pick up at 7:15 a.m., return at 10:30 a.m.
