Chairs: Mr. and Mrs. Thomas F. Gilbane, Jr.
Salve Regina, with the assistance of former governor J. Joseph Garrahy, established the Governor’s Ball in 1977 to introduce outside support for the University and to raise scholarship funds for Salve Regina students. This act of goodwill has benefited countless students over the years. To date, the ball has raised almost $5 million toward academic assistance and has become a well-known holiday tradition in Rhode Island.
 
Attended by local business leaders, alumni, parents and friends, the annual Governor’s Ball has a longstanding tradition of raising money for student scholarships. We are grateful to all participants, whose continued generosity has helped create something extraordinary.
