NEWPORT, R.I. – As part of Salve Regina's initiative to "go green," Sodexo Dining Services has switched all of its catering service ware to the environmentally friendly Earth Plus products. In addition, Sodexo is no longer using trays in the Miley cafeteria, a move intended to reduce water, energy and food waste.
The final orientation session of the summer for freshmen and transfer students will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at various campus locations.

University offices will be closed today in recognition of Labor Day. Offices will reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2.
Freshmen and new students will arrive on campus today. Check-in will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Students should go directly to their assigned residence hall.
Welcome Week: Get the Scoop, featuring the Palagi's ice cream truck, will be held from 6-8 p.m. at various campus locations.
Registration for student parking permits will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2 through Friday, Sept. 5 in the Rodgers lobby. A valid registration and proof of insurance is needed to purchase a permit, which costs $75.
Dr. Paul Farmer, co-founder of Partners in Health, will present "Rethinking Health and Human Rights" at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12 at St. George's School's William H. Drury and Richard Grosvenor Center for the Arts. Admission is free but tickets are required and can be reserved by calling (401) 842-6636.
Employees who need to rent regalia for Convocation should contact Terry Silvia in the bookstore as soon as possible at Ext. 2933 or teresa.silvia@salve.edu. Repeat orders will not be assumed. Any order placed within one week of the event may not be received in time and may incur additional fees.

More often than not, students are heard saying, "I wish I was more involved." Don't let this be you. Salve Regina has much to offer. The focus of student-operated clubs and organizations ranges from academic majors, athletics and community service to the Student Government Association.
Getting involved is all part of the college experience. To make your college experience more enjoyable, make sure you meet new people, establish connections and begin your networking. Time passes the fastest during your four years of college. Feel enthused looking back and knowing that you gave your best effort to your education. Have passion and put efforts toward the things that make you happy.
