Academic Programs

Exchange students will be placed in one of two tracks. Track 1 is for non-native speakers of English who score below the minimum English proficiency score, while track 2 is for students who are fluent in English.

Minimum proficiency requirements are:

  • TOEFL: 80
  • TOEIC: 700
  • IELTS: 51-58
  • Pearson Test: 6.0
  • Cambridge English Exam: A
  • Common European Framework: C1

The Office of International Programs and the Office of the Registrar will assist students in selecting and registering for courses. In addition, students are encouraged to speak to their home departments about appropriate course selections. Students have access to all undergraduate programs at Salve Regina, except for nursing, and will generally register for four or five courses per semester.

Track 1: Non-native speakers of English

  • English for Academic Purposes writing course (3 credits)
  • English for Academic Purposes communications course (3 credits)
  • Academic course 1 (3 credits)
  • Academic course 2 (3 credits)
  • Academic course 3 (optional, 3 credits)
  • Total course load: 12-15 U.S. credits

Track 2: Fluent in English

  • Academic course 1 (3 credits)
  • Academic course 2 (3 credits)
  • Academic course 3 (3 credits)
  • Academic course 4 (3 credits)
  • Academic course 5 (optional, 3 credits)
  • Total course load: 12-15 U.S. credits
