The major in
music education is offered by the Department of Performing Arts in
collaboration with the Department of Education. Students majoring in music
education take a minimum of 30 courses (71 credits).

Students also take 12 credits of individual music lessons in their
principal instrument or in voice and six credits in performance ensembles. All
majors are required to pass comprehensive examinations in music history and
theory and in piano and guitar proficiency prior to graduation.
