Department of Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry at Salve Regina provides students with a solid foundation in the principles of chemistry through an exciting and challenging combination of coursework and laboratory work.

In small classes taught by our accomplished faculty, students gain a deeper understanding of natural phenomena at the molecular level by examining the structures, properties and reactions of chemical elements. In addition, our laboratory sessions teach students scientific methodology, allowing them to translate classroom theory into practical experience, and serve as the foundation for their undergraduate research projects.

As an integral component of our curriculum, these projects give students the unique opportunity to not only conduct independent research with our professors, but also learn about the dissemination of new knowledge firsthand - and often have their results published in scientific journals.

Our graduates possess the critical and creative thinking skills needed for success in an array of professions. They are well prepared for graduate programs as well as careers in such fields as medicine, law, forensic and environmental science and education.
