Commencement

Commencement Checklist

  • Feb. 17 to March 9: Complete the Commencement RSVP form.
  • By March 22: Order cap, gown and hood through the Salve Regina bookstore.
  • March 26-31: Financial aid exit interviews.
  • April: Pick up cap, gown and hood at the Salve Regina bookstore.
  • April 6-8: Commencement packet pickup, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Commencement Office (McAuley Hall, Room 101).
  • May 1: Final day to pay the graduation fee and settle any outstanding financial obligations to the University.

Announcements and Tickets

Undergraduate students: Commencement packets containing announcements and tickets must be picked up at the Commencement Office, located in McAuley Hall, Room 101. Packets will be available from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, April 6 through Wednesday, April 8. Packets not picked up on these dates will be mailed via the U.S. Postal Service to the address listed on the petition to graduate.

Tickets are required for admission to Commencement. Each undergraduate will be given six tickets and four commemorative announcements. The announcement cannot be used to gain admission to the Commencement ceremony. No additional tickets will be available.

Tickets are not needed for the nursing pinning or Honors and Awards Ceremony on Saturday morning, or for the Hooding Ceremony/Baccalaureate Mass on Saturday afternoon.

Graduate students: Commencement packets containing commemorative announcements and pertinent information will be mailed via the U.S. Postal Service to the address listed on the petition to graduate.

Tickets are not required for admission to Commencement. Each graduate student will receive four commemorative announcements.

Additional commemorative announcements may be purchased from Jostens. You can place orders by calling (800) 854-7464 or visiting the Jostens website.

Academic Attire

Full academic regalia (including a cap) is required for all ceremonies. For undergraduate students, the cost of the regalia is included in the graduation fee.

You must order a cap (with tassel), gown and hood through the Salve Regina bookstore by March 22. To order online, visit the Jostens website. Items may be picked up at the bookstore in April. Questions regarding regalia should be directed to the bookstore at (401) 847-9086 or 0537mgr@follett.com.

During the Commencement ceremony, only University-recognized cords, stoles or pins may be worn on the outside of the gown. Corsages or other ornamentation are not allowed.

Financial Aid Loan Exit Interviews

Undergraduate students: Financial aid recipients are required to attend a loan exit interview if during their time at Salve Regina they received one or more of the following loans: Federal Perkins Loan, Nursing Student Loan, Federal Subsidized Direct Student Loan or Federal Unsubsidized Direct Student Loan. You may choose any session, but must attend one session.

Graduate students: Financial aid recipients may attend a loan exit interview if during their time at Salve Regina, they received one or more of the following loans: Federal Perkins Loan, Nursing Student Loan, Federal Subsidized Direct Student Loan or Federal Unsubsidized Direct Student Loan. Graduate students and distance learners are not required to attend one of the sessions, but must complete the online exit interview to receive a diploma at Commencement.

You should complete the online form prior to attending a financial aid loan exit interview.

  • 3 p.m. Thursday, March 26
  • 11 a.m. Friday, March 27
  • 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 31

All exit interviews will be held in the Bazarsky Lecture Hall.

Graduation Fee and Financial Obligation

The graduation fee is $350 for undergraduate students and $250 for graduate students. For undergraduates, this fee includes the cost of your cap and gown.

Even if you do not participate in Commencement activities, this fee must be paid to defray the cost of announcements, diplomas, diploma cases, mailings and activities. This fee is automatically billed to your account and must be paid to the Business Office before May 1.

In addition, all financial obligations to the University, including outstanding tuition, library fees and parking violations, must be satisfied or the University will not allow you to participate in the Commencement ceremony. The University will not issue your diploma or final transcripts until your account is settled.

Diplomas

During the Commencement ceremony, all graduates receive a diploma cover. Graduates will automatically receive their diplomas via the U.S. Postal Service to the address listed on the petition to graduate.
