For First-Year Students

Orientation is designed to acclimate and transition first-year students and their families to the University, expose new students to the broad educational opportunities at Salve Regina and integrate new students and their families into campus life.

Online Orientation

Our online Orientation program will help you connect with the Salve Regina community before you arrive on campus this fall. You'll learn more about the offices and resources available to all students and take a virtual tour of campus. You should complete all modules by Aug. 1.

To access the online Orientation:

  • Visit
  • Click "Create New Guest Account"
  • Register with your Salve Regina email address

Our new students typically participate in a two-day Orientation program in the June timeframe, along with a two-day Explorientation program just before the fall semester begins. Both programs are designed to help you meet people, learn about Salve Regina and its campus and prepare for a successful first year in college.

This year, your Orientation and Explorientation programs will be combined into a Week of Welcome, which will be held Sept. 3-8.

Overnight Accommodations

You will stay overnight in the residence halls during your Orientation session. It is important to note that Salve Regina student conduct policies are in effect during Orientation. Students found in violation of these policies will be subject to disciplinary action. Alcohol and drugs are strictly prohibited.

What to Bring

The University will provide linens in the residence halls, but be sure to pack the following:

  • Casual clothes and comfortable shoes
  • A sweatshirt or jacket because nights by the ocean are unpredictable
  • Alarm clock
  • Small fan if the weather is warm
  • Toiletries
  • Towels
  • Reusable water bottle
  • Sneakers and workout clothes if you wish to use the gym
  • Umbrella

Health Records

All new students, including first-year, transfer and international students, are required to complete their electronic health record through Salve Regina's health portal. Health records must be completed by Aug. 1. Students who do not submit a completed health record will be unable to register for spring 2021 courses until the record is received.

Registration for Fall Courses

In late May, you will receive an invitation to meet with an academic advisor via phone or video conferencing to plan and register for your fall 2020 courses. You will be provided with registration instructions and four-year degree plans to assist in course selection.

Advising meetings provide an opportunity for you to reflect on your interests and goals and begin the conversation about how the courses you select can build an academic foundation for you future. Exploratory/undeclared students will need to complete the pre-arrival interest form in order to register.
