Dear Salve Regina community,
Out of an abundance of caution, the University is temporarily quarantining a wing of the second floor of Miley Hall due to potential exposure to the coronavirus. This process is similar to what was done the weekend of Oct. 17, following potential exposure on the third floor. Less than 40 students are impacted at this time. Residents have been notified of the temporary quarantine and testing procedures.
Salve Regina personnel are in the process of testing all students who may have been exposed. These students will quarantine until it is determined they are no longer at risk either through negative test results or the mandatory 14-day period depending on level of exposure. Contact identification to determine all close contacts of the positive individual is also ongoing. Anyone considered to be a close contact of the positive individual will be notified by the University directly.
Students residing in this wing will be tested more than once and their health will be monitored following the first series of tests. Bathroom facilities have been cleaned, and common areas are also in the process of being disinfected. Should other residents of the building need testing, they will be notified via email. This is not considered necessary at this time.
As indicated previously, it is important to remain vigilant regarding mask-wearing, hand-washing, social distancing and cleaning surface areas around you. If you are in an enclosed location with individuals you do not live with, you should wear a mask. You should also be wearing a mask in all common spaces and in outdoor public spaces.
We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available or through our standard weekly update schedule on Tuesday afternoon.
