Salve Regina students may enter Fordham School of Law after their junior years as part of new agreement
Beginning today, May 1, qualified Salve Regina University students who have completed three years of undergraduate study are now eligible to apply for early enrollment into law school at Fordham University thanks to an articulation agreement between the two institutions. Students who enroll at Fordham through the 3+3 program will receive a guaranteed annual scholarship of $15,000 during their three years of law school.
Fordham University School of Law will guarantee admission – and waive application fees – for up to eight students annually who meet the admissions criteria. The program is open to Salve Regina juniors who are enrolled in the Pell Honors Program and who meet all criteria as administered by a selection committee. Qualified students may apply between May 1 and June 30 of their junior years as first year J.D. candidates.
“This agreement with Fordham Law School creates a tremendous opportunity for Salve students to attend one of the finest law schools in the nation,” said Scott C. Zeman, Salve Regina’s provost and vice president for academic affairs. Zeman joined Stephen Freedman, provost at Fordham University, in signing the agreement, which is valid for an initial six-year period.
Salve Regina will award a baccalaureate degree to any student who successfully completes the first year of law school through this program.
Salve Regina students must complete the LSAT before admission and should earn a minimum score of 165, though if other strong candidates are proposed, Fordham may waive that minimum LSAT score.
Salve Regina students should have a three-year cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 3.75 or above, though if other strong candidates are proposed, Fordham may waive that minimum GPA requirement.
Any students recommended through this program will be required to have an interview at the School of Law with a designated School of Law official to help determine the student’s goals and readiness for the study of law prior to receiving a final decision. Students must maintain a law school GPA of 2.20 to remain enrolled and in good academic standing.
