Salve Regina hosts 2015 RISCA Fellowship Exhibit Feb. 13-March 6

The works of 25 artists who have been recognized by the state for their excellence will be on exhibit when the 2015 Rhode Island State Council on the Arts Fellowship Exhibition opens on Friday, Feb. 13 at Dorrance H. Hamilton Gallery on the campus of Salve Regina University.

An opening reception will be presented Friday, Feb. 13 from 6-9 p.m. at the gallery. A “Fellowship Writer’s Night” will be held Thursday, Feb. 26, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., and an “Artists Talk and Closing Reception” will be presented on Friday, March 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. The public is welcome.

“The Fellowship Exhibition is a wonderful opportunity to experience the work of the artists selected as Rhode Island’s 2015 RISCA Fellows,” says Cristina DiChiera, director of Artists Programs for the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts. “These artists were selected through a rigorous review process and they represent some of the finest creative talent our state has to offer.”

Located in the Antone Academic Center at the corner of Lawrence and Leroy avenues, the gallery is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. It is closed on Mondays.

The Rhode Island State Council on the Arts is a state agency supported by appropriations from the Rhode Island General Assembly and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. RISCA provides grants, technical assistance and staff support to arts organizations and artists, schools, community centers, social service organizations and local governments to bring the arts into the lives of Rhode Islanders.
