Public invited to free Hurricane Preparedness Workshop July 20 in Ochre Court

A panel of experts representing the National Weather Service, FEMA Region 1, the Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency, the American Red Cross, National Grid and Salve Regina University's Cultural and Historic Preservation Department, will host the 2015 Hurricane Preparedness Workshop on Monday, July 20. Free and open to the public, the workshop will be held from 7-9 p.m. in Ochre Court, 100 Ochre Point Ave., on the campus of Salve Regina. Seating is limited so those wishing to attend are asked to register at Each year, hurricanes and tropical storms have the potential to cause flooding, wind damage and power outages in coastal New England. During this workshop, experts will discuss how tropical weather has impacted our area in the past and offer advice on how communities and families can be best prepared for a future storm.
