Michael Fisher of Somerset, Mass. presented Outstanding Young Alumnus Award
NEWPORT, R.I. (Nov. 6, 2017) – Michael Fisher of Somerset, Mass., the general manager at Fisher Bus, Inc., has been honored with Salve Regina University’s Outstanding Young Alumnus Award, which was presented during the university’s recent Fall Festival Weekend celebration.
Fisher, who graduated from Salve Regina in 2006 with a business management degree, together with his family operate the multifaceted transportation company that charters motor coach, van and school bus rentals throughout the region. His primary focus with the company over the last decade has been in developing the charter service division of the company. In 2013, Fisher Bus was voted “Best Bus Tour” by readers of the Fall River Herald News.
The owner of several investment properties in Fall River, Fisher received the 2013 St. Anne’s Neighborhood Association’s Home Ownership Pride Award in recognition of the significant improvements he made to his properties that have enhanced the community as a whole. He was also presented with the Somerset Lion’s Club 2015 Person of the Year Award.
He points to his father, Allen Fisher, as his most important mentor. “He is a man of tremendous character,” Michael says of his dad. “He is always prepared, never makes excuses, and has always put other people’s needs ahead of his own. His faith in God and wisdom has helped me become the man that I am today.”
In addition to his work in the community, Fisher has remained connected to Salve Regina as a sponsor of the university’s alumni and corporate golf tournaments, as well as the Governor’s Ball, Salve’s largest fundraising event. He credits his Salve education with providing him with the confidence and skills needed to succeed in a competitive industry.
“I knew Salve was where I wanted to further my education, and 11 years later I have a degree in business management, lifelong friendships, and I am honored to receive the 2017 Outstanding Young Alumnus Award,” he said.
