Dear Resident Students,
With news of the coronavirus outbreak on everyone’s mind, I know this is a stressful and unsettling time for all. Here on campus, we’re working to ensure that your concerns are addressed as we move to remote learning for the remainder of the semester.
I’m reaching out today with recent news updates for the state of Rhode Island. The newest guidance from the Rhode Island Governor’s office is that R.I will now be under a stay at home order through April 13. Individuals who reside in R.I. are being asked to stay at home unless they are going out to purchase food, medication, or gasoline, or to travel to their work. Gatherings are now limited to 5 or fewer people. Non-essential retail businesses have now been instructed to close.
Given this guidance, Salve Regina’s Office of Residence Life has decided to cancel the remainder of the March - April move out process and to postpone all remaining move outs until the scheduled dates in May. Updated information on the May retrieval dates will be sent out in the near future. I understand that this information is disappointing for those who had planned to come to campus in the next few days, but we have made this decision with the well-being of all residents in mind. Anyone signed up for move out between Sunday, March 29 and April 19 or who had not yet selected a move out date will now be shifted to the May closing.
We will continue to send updates as information becomes available. In the meantime, please know that your belongings will remain secure at Salve. We are here for you and hope that you and your loved ones remain safe and well.
