March 23 - Message to the Circle of Scholars

Dear Circle of Scholars Members,

I hope you are all staying healthy and safe during this Coronavirus pandemic. Navigating the new guidelines for social distancing is stressful and challenging but, hopefully, effective. I miss seeing all of you on campus.

Management decisions for the Circle of Scholars program have been adjusting as new information becomes available and the University responds to the Rhode Island Department of Health recommendations. I appreciate your patience and understanding while the details are being addressed.
For everyone’s safety, the Circle of Scholars program (seminars, regional trips, book club, writing group) will be postponed until the fall term.
Over the next few weeks, I will contact the Circle of Scholars instructors to reschedule all the postponed spring seminars and day trips during the months of September, October and November. Seminars will be scheduled on the same day of the week and same time, if possible, so that the students currently registered will be able to attend the new dates. This new schedule of the postponed seminars will be presented to all of you when the process is complete and registration adjustments and payment concerns will be addressed at that time.

I will continue to update you as needed over the next few months. If you have any questions, I am working remotely from home but will have access to email ( I will also check voicemail messages occasionally (401) 341-2120.

Thank you for your support and please be safe and healthy.
