Types of Aid

Your financial aid package is generally a combination of grants, scholarships and self-help. Grants and scholarships are gift aid that does not have to be paid back. Self-help includes loans, which must be paid back, and student employment, which allows a student to earn money towards college expenses.

Federal, state and Salve Regina grants are need-based funds awarded based on the information submitted annually on your FAFSA.

All new students are considered for academic scholarships as part of the application review process, and it is not necessary to apply for financial aid to be considered. In addition, many of our students have received a significant amount of funding from outside sources.

Your package may include federal student loans such as subsidized and/or federal Direct Loans, Perkins loans and nursing loans, along with need-based federal student employment. Your eligibility is determined by the information submitted annually on your FAFSA.

Veterans' Benefits

Funds may be provided to veterans of the armed services who have had active duty service, and benefits are also available to children of deceased or disabled veterans. In addition, Salve Regina participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program. Please contact your veterans' representative for details.
