The founders wrote impeachment into the Constitution as the ultimate protection of the republic against a president who, once in office, offended the constitutional order. As Congress develops its impeachment inquiry of President Donald Trump, the Pell Center for International Relations and Public Policy will convene this roundtable to discuss what impeachment really means.
Participants will discuss the definition of high crimes and misdemeanors, look at the three American presidents who faced impeachment in the past and turn their attention to current events stretching from Washington to Ukraine.
Roundtable discussions are open to Salve Regina students, faculty and staff. The Pell Center provides a free lunch. As space is limited, those interested in attending are asked to RSVP to (401) 341-2927 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
