In 2009, Curtis published "Pleasures and Perils: Girls' Sexuality in a Caribbean Consumer Culture." She conducted fieldwork on Nevis, a small island society that was once an agrarian community and has become increasingly influenced by consumer culture. Over the past several years, Curtis has also collaborated with students conducting research in the areas of psychology, gender and society.

The faculty book chat is part of October Family Fest activities.
