Dr. Mario Dinunzio's lecture, "American Democracy and the Authoritarian Tradition of the West," will explore the legacy of the enlightenment and the European reaction to the American Revolution. The West's fascination with authoritarianism didn't stop with the American Revolution, or even with the French. DiNunzio will put that history into context with implications for the rise of new authoritarian movements today.
DiNunzio is emeritus professor of history at Providence College, where continues to teach in the development of western civilization program. He has written essays on Civil War history, and his books include "Franklin D. Roosevelt and the Third American Revolution."
