Dec. 8 - To the Salve Regina community: To-go meals and booster/flu clinic

Dear Salve Regina community,

As we approach the end of the semester, it is imperative that we all do our best to mitigate the spread not only of COVID-19, but also influenza. Cases of both have been increasing on campus among all members of our community.

Our emergency management team is monitoring and responding to all known cases of COVID-19 and influenza. Most can be traced to gatherings where proper masking and social distancing have not occurred, and within small, social groups where individuals may be more comfortable removing masks around each other.

There is no reason to panic or suggest that the University move to remote learning for the remaining days of the semester. However, we are concerned for the health and safety of all community members and their families as we head into the holiday season. No one wants to be sick or in quarantine during the holidays.

Food Service for Indoor Meetings and Gatherings

In order to mitigate the potential for spread on campus, we are strongly discouraging the serving of food or beverages at any indoor meetings or gatherings for the remainder of the semester. We also encourage organizers to consider holding meetings or gatherings remotely whenever possible.

If you have an indoor catered event scheduled this week or prior to the holiday, please adjust accordingly or reschedule for another time. Also, please ensure that masks continue to be worn properly indoors. Masks are the best defense against both COVID-19 and influenza.

To-Go Meals

Sodexo will offer meals to go beginning at lunch today (Wednesday). The to-go option is available as a personal choice for those interested. The dining hall will continue to operate until the end of the semester with a few adjustments to seating for social distancing purposes.

Tonight’s midnight breakfast for students will continue as planned, with the to-go option also available. Students are expected to replace their masks as soon as they are done eating.

Booster/Flu Clinic

A clinic for both the COVID-19 booster and influenza will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday) in the Miley Hall executive dining room. Both will be available to students, faculty, and staff. Insurance cards and vaccination cards for those receiving the booster are required. If you completed the two-dose Pfizer or Moderna vaccine six (or more) months ago or the single-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine two (or more) months ago, please get a booster.

Details regarding arrival and testing requirements for the spring 2022 semester will be sent next week. Thank you for your cooperation regarding mask compliance and other mitigation efforts, and thank you for all you continue to do to keep our community safe.
