On-campus employment is work paid by Salve Regina or work done at Salve Regina by a company. In order for your employment to qualify as on-campus employment, Salve Regina must be the employer. Companies that work on campus and offer direct services to students, such as Sodexo and Follet, are also eligible.
An F-1 student may work on campus if:
- Valid F-1 status is maintained.
- Employment does not exceed 20 hours per week while school is in session. Note: If you work for more than one on-campus employer, the total number of hours worked from all jobs cannot exceed 20 hours per week. While immigration law allows for 20 hours per week of employment, Salve Regina’s policy is that all student employment work be 8 hours per week or fewer.
- F-1 students may work more than 20 hours per week on campus during holidays and vacation periods if they intend to register for the next semester.
Students need to bring the F-1 verification of hire form to the Office of International Programs before they can apply for a Social Security number.
