Dear Newport Marriott students,
We are writing to you today to notify you of a change in the baseline testing procedures for Newport Marriott resident students.
After opening our coronavirus testing site today, we realized that duplicating the testing process in a second location off the main campus would not be feasible. Our concern is with ensuring the accuracy of the test results.
You may still arrive on the date and time that you have scheduled, which can be found on your MyHousing portal, but we ask that your first stop be at the Rodgers Recreation testing center rather than the hotel. After you go through the testing process (which, depending on lines, is a fairly quick process), you may travel to the Marriott and proceed with your move-in.
Returning students assigned to the Marriott Hotel will move in Monday Sept. 7 and Tuesday Sept. 8. Shifts will begin on Monday, Sept. 7 from 3-5 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. and Tuesday, Sept. 8 from 9-11 a.m. and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please note that we have created these move-in times after negotiating with the hotel as they are completing their summer and take the time to clean rooms prior to arrival.

Upon arrival, students will be directed to designated parking spaces and will proceed to the check-in desk which will be staffed by Residence Life. Parking spaces will be available near unloading areas and then once students belongings have been removed from their cars they should move to another parking space.
