April 20 - To the Salve Regina community: End-of-semester testing updates

Dear Salve Regina community,

Thank you for your dedication to ensuring the health and safety of our students, faculty and staff throughout this academic year. With the spring semester quickly drawing to a close, today’s update contains key testing information to keep in mind as we head towards summer break.

Asymptomatic Surveillance Testing

Asymptomatic surveillance testing for undergraduate students will conclude Thursday, April 22, with the exception of athletes and the Class of 2021, who will remain in the surveillance testing program through Thursday, May 6. As a reminder, participation in surveillance testing is mandatory as required by the Rhode Island Department of Health.

In addition, the daily health screening survey for students will conclude Sunday, May 9.

Asymptomatic Exit Testing

Salve Regina will offer walk-in exit testing to undergraduate students who are returning home for summer break. Asymptomatic exit testing will be available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, April 26 through Thursday, April 29 in Gerety Hall, Room 103 on a first-come, first-served basis.

You are responsible for knowing your home state’s guidelines regarding quarantine and testing. Some states may require quarantine upon arrival and some will allow you to avoid quarantine by producing a negative test administered up to 72 hours prior to your arrival, so please plan your exit testing accordingly.

Symptomatic Testing

All undergraduate students, including off-campus students, may utilize Health Services for evaluation and symptomatic testing through Saturday, May 8. During business hours (9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday), call Health Services at (401) 341-2904. Testing is also available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday – please call Health Services to schedule. Outside of business hours, call the Office of Safety and Security at (401) 341-2325.

Quarantine and Isolation Housing on Campus

Salve Regina strongly encourages students to return to their permanent residence for the completion of any mandated quarantine due to close contact with a positive case and/or isolation due to a positive test. If you are unable to return home, quarantine and isolation housing is available on campus. All quarantine and isolation housing must be vacated by Wednesday, May 19.
